Kitchens and pantries require scheduled cleaning "inside
and out", "on top and under." Some even
have carpeted flooring.
The place that holds the coffeepot and the microwave is
one of the most frequently visited area in the facility.
You may only pass through the reception area once on the
way in and again on the way out...but the kitchen or nearby
pantry will see you many times during the day.
With all this traffic, it is no wonder that the telltale
signs of heavy use are so apparent. The china and silver,
in those offices that prefer a real cup to styrofoam, are
usually washed in a dishwasher. But what about the cabinets
that everyone opens and closes numerous times a day? Those
fingerprints are inside as well as outside the cabinet doors.
The appliances are in need of scheduled cleaning inside
and out in addition to "on top and under." Old
leftovers that were meant for lunch tomorrow but were forgotten
in lieu of takeout are growing mittens in the refrigerator
unless an edict is adhered to requiring a weekly or bi-weekly
cleanup and trash day.
In most facilities the conference room attendants have
neither the time nor the tools to properly clean and sanitize
the kitchens and pantries. It's become de riguer in many
offices to call in the experts for a kitchen detail to be
performed on a quarterly to semi-annual program. During
this deep cleaning, attention to the walls, baseboards,
entrance and exit doors, a/c registers and trash cans, is
an important part of the overall cleaning regimen.
There should be a schedule available from the janitorial
company outlining the program they're following on stripping
and waxing the vinyl flooring. It's a good idea to coordinate
the kitchen cleaning with the floor treatment...make it
a clean sweep!
